Day 95 and 96 Journals

More Walking

Well the last two days have flown (well dragged) by and here we are with only 9 days left!

Yesterday's walk, from Centralia to Tumwater, was one of those horrible days where my body just does not want to walk. It really did just drag on and on and for the whole day all I wanted to do was sit down and rest! Eventually I got to the end, of course, and could relax and hope that I felt a little more alive for the next walk.

I was also met at the end of the day by some Rotarians from Olympia and Lacey clubs who helped walk me in for the last mile, which always helps.

Today felt much, much better and breezed by a lot more happily. I started again with the same faithful Rotarians who walked with me yesterday and we marched to into Olympia to the Washington State Capitol, a scaled down replica of the United States Capitol in Wachington D.C., where Rotarians from Tumwater, Olympia and Lacey clubs had gathered on what was a rather beautiful morning. What a shame I had to go walking!

I then proceeded out of Olymipa along the 510 which, to my continued discomfort, headed due south before looping back north again! I was, for much of the day, skirting Fort Lewis Military Reservation (a US Army base) and could delight to the sound of artillery shells being fired safely within the confines of the base (I hope)! It was another scorching day and by the time Clare came to pick me up at the ending point I had consumed all of my water supply and was, as always, very happy to see her (and my flip-flops).

It has been a relaxing evening and Clare is now indulging in her new hobby, crochet. She has become quite an expert at this art form and has concocted a number of impressive items from her balls of yarn. If you have requests for crochetwear, get them in early to avoid disappointment!

Well, time for some relaxing of my own. Take care and more later.

nathan - i'm so glad to hear that you're nearing the end of your journey - although, who really wants to end an adventure? once you stop walking, you're going to have to go to work, you realize. i have been out of touch for awhile due to being out of state on my own adventures (not walking 30 miles a day, however!) would love to hear from you soon. maybe i'll even call you! take it easy. hey what books have you been reading lately, i wonder, anything you'd recommend? and, did you ever read my comment from day 55? seems so long ago now, huh! hugs and best wishes. k '99 :)
