Day 88 Journal
Baking
It was the hottest day of the year in this part of the world – with temperatures hovering in the high nineties for much of the afternoon.
It was therefore a tough day of walking as I slowly baked on the shoulder of Highway 99E.
Again, it was a fairly unspectacular route along a very busy road, through a heavily agricultural region.
I was met in Woodburn by some Rotarians as well as a congregation from a local senior’s home!
It was then a very hot battle into Canby where the walk ended for the day. Again, I was met by some Canby Rotarians before heading a couple of miles further north to the Canby Ferry, where I will start tomorrow’s walk on board!
Hopefully it will cool down over the next couple of days. It has been very difficult to stay hydrated over the last couple of days and I have to be sure to consume plenty of water in the evening as well as during the day.
Well there are only 16 walking days to go so we are getting there slowly but surely. Still plenty of hard work lies ahead though.
Take care, more soon
