Day 87 Journal

State Capitol

We had a fantastic evening yesterday – first a presentation by the Mayor of Salem at City Hall and then there was a party at Ed and Pat’s house so we got to meet many of the local Rotarians.

Today I walked from Monmouth and was joined by Ed for 3 miles into Independence and Chuck for 15 miles into Salem! We walked to the State Capitol building where there were more Rotarians and press to greet us.

It was hot today – 94 degrees – so again I was glad to finish up for the afternoon. There was another Rotarian get together where we are staying here in Gervais with Pam and Bob so another action packed if somewhat exhausting evening. Time for bed now. It promises to be even hotter tomorrow. Lots of sun block of course.
