Day 77 Journal
Nick
Today was another sunny day and the walk started conveniently from the motel in Bandon where we stayed. There was a group of Bandon Rotarians to join me for a couple of miles this morning. I was also joined for the entire day by Nick, a Rotarian from the Coos Bay North Bend Rotary Club. Nick and I have a lot in common. Last summer he rode his bike 4,300 miles across the USA from Coos Bay, Oregon to Cape Cod, Massachusetts! We therefore spent the day exchanging war stories as well as talking in depth about the Tour de France!! It was great to have some company on the road and it definitely made the day slip by a little faster than normal.
Today was a straightforward route from Bandon into Coos Bay – the largest town on Oregon’s south coast. We marched through the 25 miles in around 6.5 hours and finished here at the Red Lion Motel where Nick’s wife was waiting to deliver Nick back to the start point.
All in all a very pleasant day. As day 5 of a 6 day walking week, I am definitely feeling the fatigue as well as having a couple of blisters on my feet which understandably pop up on a regular basis.
This evening we are having dinner with some Coos Bay North Bend Rotarians. Time for some rest and maybe a quick nap. Hope you are all having a good weekend!
More soon.
